Sour Cream Apple Squares

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine, softened
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1 -2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 egg
- 2 cups peeled and finely chopped apples
Directions
- 1 Set oven to 350 degrees.
- 2 Prepare an ungreased 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
- 3 In a large bowl, combine flour, brown sugar and butter; beat at low speed until crumbly.
- 4 Stir in nuts.
- 5 Lightly press 2-3/4 cups of the crumb mixture in bottom of an ungreased baking dish.
- 6 To the remaining crumb mixture, add cinnamon, baking soda, salt, sour cream, vanilla and egg; mix well with a wooden spoon.
- 7 Stir in apples.
- 8 Spoon evenly over the crumb base in the pan.
- 9 Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- 10 Cool slightly; cut into squares.
- 11 Serve with ice cream or whipped cream -- YUMMY!
